Genealogy from the perspective of a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon, LDS)

You might want to read the news

From time to time, I think it is a good idea to remind my readers that this particular blog is focused on family history and/or genealogical issues primarily of interest to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My other blog, Genealogy's Star, is more general in nature and my posts are aimed at the larger, world-wide genealogical community which of course, also includes members of the Church.

Today, 23 March 2016, there was an announcement by Findmypast.com about their discontinuance of the Mocavo.com website and the merger of the resources into the Findmypast.com website. Since Findmypast.com is one of the FamilySearch.org partner programs and free access is given to members, this should be of particular interest to members. A move like this always raises questions about the effect the merger might have on the existing FamilySearch.org partnership and I have already had those questions raised by people I have talked to today. From time to time, you may want to look through the posts on Genealogy's Star to see if there are any issues that might affect you or your own genealogical research.

A good way to do this is by employing a "reader" or "syndication" program such as Feedly.com or other similar programs to consolidate blogs, news, sports and any other type of website you may wish to watch regularly.
