Organizing Genealogy Files

A perennial topic among family historians is the concept of organizing all the paper and files accumulated by research. This short video explores my suggestions about how to tame the paper dragon.

  1. Thanks - well done!
I would like to see a few examples from your database. Also, if you don't put a number on the original, then do you make a photocopy and write on it? This would greatly add to the number of pieces of paper needed to support the system, as well as complicating the filing system (originals vs. photocopies).

    Keep it up !

    1. I would not make an extra copy. I would probably keep the information in my genealogy database program (such as RootsMagic, Ancestral Quest, Legacy etc. )You could keep a running list with your paper documents also.
